Joké Liebenberg
PRINCIPAL
With over 30 years of experience, Ms. Liebenberg’s career in the Health & Skincare industry has been nothing short of an adventure! From shaping the future of learners in education to working with top skincare brands, she’s done it all. One of her most cherished roles was as a beauty facilitator at The National Institute for the Deaf College. Learning South African Sign Language was part of the gig, and she still proudly signs to this day! Her passion for education in this field runs deep, and countless learners have thrived under her guidance. When asked about her biggest challenge, she laughs and says, “Playing golf!”
Hameeda Hurzuk
LECTURER
Ms. Hameeda Hurzuk, affectionately known as Ms. H by her learners, has been an educator for more than 25 years. She thrives on engaging with learners and teaching the fundamentals of our ever evolving and diverse industry. Her deep fascination with the human body—its structure and functions—fuels her passion for teaching human anatomy and physiology. A nature enthusiast, Ms. Hurzuk finds joy in teaching holistic therapies, as she believes nature evokes a sense of tranquillity. When academic challenges felt overwhelming during her own studies, she drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s words: “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.”
Leigh Hancocks
LECTURER
Ms. Hancocks has had the privilege of spending over 12 years in the Health & Skincare Industry. Her career began as a body specialist on cruise liners, primarily stationed in Florida and The Bahamas. Throughout her journey, Ms. Hancocks has developed a profound passion for supporting others, whether through conversations, education, or treatments. She believes that positively impacting even one person’s life is a true measure of success. Her specialties include complementary therapies such as reflexology and massage, as well as advanced aesthetic treatments like skin needling and skin peeling. Her favourite saying, “Hakuna Matata,” popularized by The Lion King, perfectly captures her positive outlook on life.
Kayleigh Bird
LECTURER
Ms. Bird is an educator with a deep enthusiasm for Nail Technology and Nail Art. Since graduating in 2012, she has developed a strong affinity with the Beauty Industry. Her favourite colour, emerald green, perfectly reflects her vibrant and creative spirit—something that runs in her family’s artistic roots. Outside the classroom, Ms. Bird’s diverse interests include fashion, history, and visiting museums. A dedicated jazz dancer, she carries on the tradition passed down by her father. As a foodie, she has a special fondness for good cuisine, with a particular weakness for anything chocolate.
Claire Barnett
LECTURER
Mrs. Barnett is a lecturer specializing in body treatments and has a deep passion for academics. She also serves as our Quality Assurance Manager, driving continuous improvement at the Academy. With 17 years of experience in the Health & Skincare Industry, Mrs. Barnett has thrived in various roles. Outside of work, she enjoys art, being a proud mom to a wonderful 5-year-old and playing netball. When asked about her favourite quote, she immediately shares: “The road to success is always under construction.” This saying perfectly reflects her unwavering commitment to everything she undertakes.
